Raising energy.

No matter what it is that you’re doing, saying or feeling it all takes a certain amount of energy. It shouldn’t be hard for us to realise that any action we perform costs us in energy, yet so many of us are running off of a near empty tank and by the end of the day it can seem like a task just to arch over and grab the remote from the other side of the couch. So lets talk about our energy levels, have a look at some common causes of low energy and how we can work on increasing the amount of energy we have available to us at any given time.

The main lifestyle factors that I see causing lack of energy are
-Nutrition
-Exercise (or more likely lack thereof)
-Tension (Physically and psychologically)
-Relationships

Nutrition

Starting off with what I see as the most prevalent issue in lack of energy is nutrition. You are quite literally what you eat, whatever it is that you’re putting into your mouth will over time become your whole biological system, everything down to fat, muscle, bone and even the brain is all made up of the food going into your body, so what kind of food are you putting into your body? Is it fresh, high quality, high prana foods that will give your body the right macro and micronutrient composition, leave you feeling full and satisfied and in turn giving you a steady stream of high-quality energy? Or is the food you’re eating dead and inert, greasy, full of artificial ingredients and harmful chemicals, that not only do a disservice to your body but also to your mind. Exercise

Just as important as getting the right nutrients in your body is using your body in the right ways, in ways that allow you to feel strong, flexible, mobile and well balanced. It’s dead easy to live a life with little to no exercise, no limping home after that gruelling gym session, no slapping your hands onto your knees and gasping for breath after breaking that new record on your run. But using our bodies in the right way has the potential to open us up to a domain of self-satisfaction and self-mastery that would otherwise be missing in our lives. When we use our bodies in these ways and learn how to become more efficient in our movement the mundane tasks that once seemed tiring and thus cost you more energy become as easy as can be! And only cost a fraction of the energy! The benefits of regular exercise are innumerable, consisting of anything from reducing your risk of chronic illness, looking leaner and having clearer skin to improving the function of our brains. The discipline and consistency required here also can have massive carry over into pretty much any other area in your life.

Tension

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post everything has an energetic cost and one thing that most of us tend to overlook is the cost of the tension in our bodies. When I say tension in our bodies I’m referring to the unconscious habit of tensing areas of your body, if you become mindful of your body it will quickly become apparent to you that certain thoughts and emotions trigger tensions throughout our body and for most of us we can be in a state of tension pretty much all the time! Relationships

Last but not least on this list would be relationships and situations that can drain your energy. We all know someone in our lives that when we interact with them it can exhausting, this could be for a variety of reasons, maybe they’re particularly high maintenance and constantly need your input and praise, maybe they’re the kind of person that can’t sit still for 5 minutes and can only find satisfaction in a near constant stream of stimulation, but most of the time the biggest culprit here is going to be negatively minded people, negatively minded people are without doubt the most draining and exhausting kinds of people to be around by a longshot, constantly pumping our minds with tale after tale of there dark and dreary bullshit, incessantly complaining about yesterday or worrying about tomorrow. The more of these vampires you surround yourself with the more of your precious energy will be sapped and used to fuel their ignorance and lack of enjoyment for life. Now as far as removing this kind of influence goes well… It can be challenging especially if the majority of your social interaction revolves around them, but like anything else with the right understanding and effort it can be done, we can start by gaining an accurate gage on who in our lives fit this profile, it could be friends and acquaintances or even family members, once you figure this out start by asking yourself some simple questions about these people, How is this person helping me live the life I want to live? How are these persons problems affecting the way I feel? Is there anything to gain from investing in their issues? Obviously your not going to turn your back on everyone who has a complaint about the weather but if that person spends the majority of there time in a low consciousness and negative state then their company is probably not what you want in terms of raising and maintaining a high energy life. Now that we’ve covered the bad end of the stick it’s important to mention that the kinds of people that we want around us are essentially the polar opposite of the above, people who are positive, authentic, don’t drag you down and ultimately help you work towards living the life you want to be living.
